Think about it.
How many people do you know who have miserably failed in their professional life?
Metaphorically speaking they’ve fallen hard. Scraped up their knees and elbows. Cracked open their face and bled profusely. They have the emotional, physical, and perhaps financial scars to show for their failures.
I don’t know about you, though I don’t know too many people who fall into the -failure- category.
Let’s face it, the masses have done one thing very well. They’ve lived a safe, predictable, ordinary, normal life. I know lots of them. I’m sure you do as well.
I came across this quote the other day which hit me like a ton of bricks:
“Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work, driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to a job that you need so you can pay for the clothes, car and the house that you leave empty all day in order to afford to live in it.” ~ Ellen Goodman
There’s approximately 148M full time workers in the United States.
Statistics by Gallup consistently reveals two thirds of these people are walking around in a coma, going to and from work, disengaged from their jobs.
They’re living a normal professional life.
Is this you? The numbers say seven out of ten of you are miserable at work. This is normal?
Do you want a normal professional life? That’s ok, the market needs lots of normal ordinary people to do ordinary uninspiring work.
If you want something other than normal or know someone who wants a new life direction for their career, I’d encourage you/they go to my career transition program: Steve Borek Career Coaching Now What – 90 Days To A New Life Direction.
