I’ve successfully completed two weeks of the 21 Day Plant Based Challenge Diet. It’s been an interesting experience.
I’m learning a lot about the new Steve. I’ve lost a little weight. Some of my yoga moves require less grunting. Energy level is way up. It’s as if I’m living the life of a different person. Almost storylike.
What story are you telling yourself?
Where your focus goes, your focus grows.
What you think about, you bring about.
Language plays an important part in carving the path towards what you want to create.
The screenwriter goes through numerous revisions before the script matches the vision they had at the start. They’re looking for a specific result. A feeling. It’s a process.
To change your results, rewrite your script. To change what you’re feeling, tell yourself a better story.
Today’s guest post is written by one of my favorite entrepreneurs, Derek Sivers.
Derek is best known for being the founder and former president of CD Baby, an online CD store for independent musicians. Derek is currently living in Singapore, creating his next company.
Derek offers a great idea to change one word in the script to get a different result.
Procrastination Hack: change and to or – Derek Sivers
When do you go running?
“When the time is right.”
When is the time right?
“When it’s a nice day and I’ve finished my work, and I haven’t just eaten, and I’m feeling energetic.”
Repeat that last sentence changing “and” to “or.”
“When it’s a nice day OR I’ve finished my work, OR I haven’t just eaten, OR I’m feeling energetic.
That sounds like a better plan!
Got a list of conditions you need satisfied before you do something?
Try changing and to or.
The change of and to or is key. Very refreshing and good practical tips on getting back to basics to fulfill the vision one has set out for themselves.
Ryan, give it a go this week. Let me know what happens?
ahh.. or is good.
Steve,
I definitely will do and it’s going to start on this mighty Monday!
Great Ryan! Let me know how you make out. Let’s do breakfast again soon.
Great tip on how : To change your results, rewrite your script. To change what you’re feeling, tell yourself a better story. Thank you!
Rodeth! How are things in your part of the country? Don’t be a stranger. Stop by again soon! 😉
Hey Steve,
Happy to hear that you’re feeling much better and even lost a little weight. I need to do some type of plan like that but I just seriously hate to exercise. I eat okay, I’m not over weight, out of shape or unhealthy. I walk everyday but I know I should be doing more. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll take a hint from your book.
Great job with the post Derek and I definitely know where some of those words need to be changed in my vocabulary!
Thanks guys and enjoy your weekend.

Adrienne, if you’re feeling ok, and your health is good, so be it.
Everyone’s body is different. You’ve got to find the right mix of diet, rest, and exercise that works for you.
Hoping you find my envelope.
